Hard working is one of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of my dad. In a world where people seem to always find the easy way out, my dad consistently works hard to do things the right way…even if it may be more difficult.
He has been a logger as long as I can remember. This means that all my life he has been up before the sun and comes back home just before dusk where he then puts time in sharpening his chains and ensuring his equipment is ready for the next day. His dedication to the job goes way beyond the borders of the woods.
We all know that logging is one of the most dangerous professions and as a result my dad has lost friends and co-workers over the years, yet at 67 he still puts in the blood and sweat on a daily basis to provide for his family. Even when his body may ache you can see the satisfaction on his dirty face knowing that he earned his paycheck.
Even before logging, my dad worked hard to support his young family as a professional bronc rider where his highest ranking was 5th in the world. I guess you could say that he has always had a thing for dangerous hard work!
When he isn’t out in the woods, watching the PBR, or playing with his dog RIP, my dad chooses to spend his time out on the water bass fishing. A long time ago he even turned that into hard work as he competes on the local bass fishing team tournament circuits where he placed first as recently as February.
In a nutshell, my dad is the greatest example of what it means to work hard and earn what you have while cracking jokes along the way. I am blessed to have been able to grow up making memories with him from the truck rides on the logging roads to the boat rides on the lake. Thanks “Frog Breath” for all that you do and all that you are!
