Chip is a very loyal, kind and brave German Shepherd who had a rough go of it first round in life.
I adopted him two years ago as a special needs a German Shepherd. At the age of two, he already had lost partial vision in one eye, had neurological damage that makes his right ear stand straight up all the time, and was missing a few teeth.
Chip used to not want to go off the front porch But he quickly learned to run around the front acre with his sister Lily, a black lab.
Last Thursday Chip had another challenge, due to an infection behind his good eye. He bravely got through emergency surgery and is recovering now. We don’t know what the prognosis is for the vision in his good eye yet, but with his brave character, keen sense of smell, great ears, and the help of his sister, we expect he will be back on guard dog duty, enjoying life very soon.
