The old Route 66 in New Mexico mostly follows Interstate 40. This picture was taken in Santa Rosa, NM.
New Mexico may be the most forgotten and overlooked state in the entire western U.S.
It takes (seemingly) forever to drive through and almost all of it is rural and remote. It has one of the lowest median incomes in all of the states.
It is the 5th largest state in the USA. It is known for its green chili, Native American culture and Spanish influence.
The Continental Divide also runs through New Mexico, just west of Albuquerque.
