This is my first entry since me and the biker babe took off from Sacramento on Friday heading for Nashville Tennessee. It was a fun trip for us both, especially since Shelly hasn’t been on a plane in 20 years. I was pulled aside at the airport, my bag searched by the TSA. Good thing it was only my deodorant that was the problem.
Okay, so we land in Nashville pretty late, get to the hotel and wouldn’t you know it, the fire department is called to the hotel for an emergency and of course the firefighters start flirting with biker babe. No worries, she puts their fire out quickly and we’re fast to sleep.
Next day, it’s time to hit the hot road, and I mean HOT! 97 degrees for the high in Nashville with a heat index of 107. Oh boy, this bike ride to see Mom in Mississippi will be a sweaty one. We ride three hours to Memphis, then 3 more hours down I-55 to Kosciusko Mississippi.
Always great to see Mom! We’ve had the best time, enjoying all the southern hospitality from relatives and friends I haven’t seen in decades and of course enjoying watching biker babe get to see this part of the country for the very first time and eat at a Waffle House. She seems to fit right in, but can’t believe how difficult it is to breathe in this Mississppi humidity!.. yuck.
Well, it’s been a short visit here with Mom, we’ve enjoyed catfish, hushpuppies, german chocolate cake, traveling the Natchez Trace, old dirt roads and seeing all the cousins and neighbors. It’s time to pack up the motorcycle and back to Music City tomorrow morning for the kick off of CMA Music Fest. We’ll be at the Grand Ole Opry tomorrow night to see Carrie Underwood, then Wednesday night the CMT Video Music Awards. We’ll be checking in again tomorrow night and of course be sure to join me and Biker babe all this week calling in updates Live from Nashville.
